Fire-Eater
On February 27, 1999, Richard Einhorn received a Jussi Award, the Finnish equivalent of an Oscar, for his music for Fire-Eater (TULENNIELIJÄ) Pirjo Honkasalo's stunning film about two twin girls in a travelling circus. The music, for Finnish folk singers, chorus, orchestra, synthesizers, and percussion was produced and recorded in Helsinki by Timo Tuovinen.
The critically-acclaimed film from Marko Rohr Productions was nominated for 13 Jussi Awards winning in 7 categories. Along with Best Musical Score, Fire-Eater won for Best Actress, Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Sound.
Fire-Eater has won numerous awards including the audience prize at the Locarno Film Festival and Best Picture at AFI Film Mart in Los Angeles.
